Week of September 29th- October 3rd
Hello parents, No I did not forget about you! Just had a busy weekend at home. This week there are plenty of exciting things happening. Please check your child's red folder daily for important papers that go home.. Help keep it tidy by taking out old papers or their art work. Friday we sent home the United Way Campaign information (orange paper) and a Calendar of activities (yellow paper). You may chose to participate in all or select from the list with a donation of $1 per activity listed on orange paper.
I would like you to write or tell your child what country mom and dad came from, since we are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month I figure we can talk about the different cultures in your children's lives. Look for the form in your child's folder.
Last week we leaned the letter 'Cc' and it's sound like /k/. The children drew pictures of things with the /K/ sound like cow, cowboy, cookie and ask them to draw you a cat like I showed them.
We are working on compound words. So they should know that when you take 2 words and put them together to make a new word it's a compound word. There is a cute song on youtube you can show them that explains it well. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0X7xMDXmc8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0X7xMDXmc8
We are working on cutting skills, today they cut paper into strips. You can do the same at home, trace lines (straight or even curved on paper and have them cut) There are plenty of resources online as well if you search for "practice cutting".
I'm scheduling conferences already to review your child's progress in Prek and go over their first assessment results.
Here is a link of a scheduler I'm trying out to sign up for a conference with me. Let me know if it does not work....
If you are able to donate a pumpkin to our class, please let me know by email and I will let everyone know once we get a donation!
Parents, Thanx a bunch for your support. I am enjoying your munchkins!
