All about The Teacher....
First of all let me welcome you again to Christina Eve Elementary. My name is Alexandra De Leon, and I will be your child’s PreK teacher this year. Ms. Sonia will assist me in the classroom. I look forward to working together with you to ensure your child’s success during this exciting school year.
A little bit about me:
I have been teaching Pre-K at to Christina Eve for the past 5 years, but I have been teaching for the past 10 years. I come from a family of artists and educators and have always wanted to be a teacher.
I was nominated Rookie Teacher of the Year 2013-14 at Calusa Elementary before continuing my journey at Christina M. Eve where I was nominated Teacher of the Year in 2017-2018. I take pride in my career and always look for ways to improve on my teaching style.
I enjoy working with children and I am honored to have been chosen for this position.
My husband and I have 3 children; two boys and one girl (14, 13, and 9 yrs. old) who keep us on our toes at home.
I was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti but have lived in Miami for 20 years. I speak French, Haitian Creole and am still learning basic Spanish.
What to expect this year:
This year your child will be learning many new concepts which are the building blocks for their future education. They will be exposed to print knowledge, phonological awareness, new vocabulary and language as well as mathematical concepts. We will also focus on social-emotional awareness skills as children learn to solve everyday problems. Many hands-on activities will be presented to your child to create a fun and exciting learning environment. Your children will come home excited to share what they have learned! I encourage you to take part in this process by engaging them in meaningful conversations to fully develop their vocabulary.
I will expect children to learn and follow these simple rules:
Listen to all teachers/follow directions the first time they are given
Keep hands and feet to yourself
Walk/ Don't run inside the building
Use quiet voices inside
Respect others and yourself.
I want to thank you for entrusting me with your most precious possession: your child.
We are partners in their education process and I will do my best to make this a positive experience so your child can develop a love for learning.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact the school at 305-383-9392.
