|Welcome to ourPre-k Place!||
PRE-K PRESS WEEK OF 10-20-14 to 10-24-14
We had a grrrrrrrrrreat week!
LAST WEEK'S ACTIVITIES:
We explored the letter for the week: Ff for Fifi the Fish.
We have been reading, discussing, and repeating the words that begin with Ff. SUPER!
Continue practicing the sounds these letters make with you child.
We talked about communities, including buildings, people, and services provided. We looked at maps and discussed short or long routes. We created a map with a birds eye view of our classroom using blocks and classroom materials! THAT WAS SO COOL!
The children used their imagination to create community buildings out of boxes from the recycled items.
We continued to read and discuss many new stories, including some using the Promethean board.
We used manipulatives found in the toy area to develop small muscles and creativity.
We have been learning new Halloween songs and fingerplays. YES!
We participated in America Reads in the Media Center. We listened to the story "Bunny Cakes" being read by a media specialist over a Skype camera. The story of Max and Ruby making a cake for Grandma was very entertaining. We also got to taste a piece of cake and wore our bunny ears.
The new letter for the week will be Gg for Gertie Goose
Friday the children may come to school wearing their Halloween costume. Please no weapons. If you would like to send a change of clothes for them to change back into in case they become uncomfortable after our parade, that would be a great idea.
We will continue talking about our community and the various jobs that people perform. We may even have guest Officer Maldonado visit us and tell us about how he helps the community stay safe. AWESOME!
We will be discussing distances, which are shorter/longer to go to a certain place.
The children will be moving around the classroom while comparing distances. FUN!
Check the CME calendar for Red Ribbon week events.
Each day will have a theme to relay anti drug messages.
To make it age appropriate for pre-k, we will discuss ways to stay safe:
Please remember that our home learning is for you to read to your child daily.
After reading a story discuss what took place in the story. AWESOME!
Wishing you an amazing week.
